Near Neighbours Project – Weekly Coffee Mornings

Jan 2018- to date

In partnership with a new local organisation ‘North Manchester Sisters’, we have been delivering coffee mornings since January 2018.  Following on from the success of our opening event held in January 2018 at the Cheetham and Crumpsall Model Allotment in Crumpsall.  We continue to run weekly coffee mornings for the local community at Broadoak Court, Manchester M8 in association with  The Guiness Partnership. The purpose of the coffee mornings is to bring people together from different cultural backgrounds, community cohesion and also tackle social isolation.

There is a regular attendance from the residents of Broadoak Court and also the local community.  The Coffee mornings are held weekly during term time and we invite a variety of guests to come in and speak to the participants. In the last twelve months we have covered topics including dementia,  diabetes, alternative therapy and other health issues. Regular sessions involve quizzes and prizes for those that attend and annually we have a baking competition.  Refreshments and a light lunch is provide. This project is funded by a Near Neighbours Grant.
